COB Provisioning Garden
The COB, formally known as the Cook office Building, is located on Cook Campus at Rutgers University. The building is not in the heart of the campus and is easily lost. The staff who occupy the building have voiced their concerns about the building being unnoticed by visitors, Uber drivers, and even neighboring buildings staff. One of the most important requests by the Cook Office staff was the need for designing to highlight the building's identity. The COB Garden proposes a planting plan featuring plants that represent the university's school colors and can provide services for both humans and wildlife. In the midst of the plants, a seating area is proposed to cater to the building staff in order for them to enjoy lunch and be immersed in their new office garden.

This plan shows the the proposed design in relation to the existing Cook Office building. The seating area was proposed across from the building to provide direct access for building staff and to allow for a view into their new their relaxation space without revealing the entire space. The focal point is the white serviceberry tree in the center of the seating area. Upon entering, seating arrangements are revealed along with a brick seat wall encompassing the space. The seating area is protected with bluestem ornamental grass to provide a view when standing, but when seated, you are fully immersed. Although your views out are limited when seating, you are still able to enjoy the white and red foliage the serviceberry and chokeberry trees provide. Those views assist in creating a wonderful relaxation experience.
